A new Charter to replace the original was presented by John Fox (Board Representative of Society when original charter was created in 1952).

November's meeting was preceeded by a visit to the National Research Council's Central Heating Plant, which was well attended by students. The evening topic was "State of the Art for Central Control for Building Systems" with speaker George Lafreniere of Honeywell Ottawa.

January's program was a panel discussion on "Master Specifications as Established by the Government of Canada". Speakers were Ivan Lavender and John Gill of Public Works, Phil Harris of Irving Contracting, and Tony Vodsedalek of Ottawa Mechanical Services. Moderator was Simon Jol.

In February the topic was "Heat Recovery" with speaker Michael Ruch of Q-Dot Corporation.

The March topic was "Control of Noise and Vibration from Mechanical Equipment" and the speaker was Dr. Thomas Northwood of the National Research Council.

A guest panel chaired by Nick Zrymiak provided the entertainment in April, the subject was "Solar Update", and the speakers were John Beckolay of Clemann, Large Patterson; Don Hampton of Public Works; and Steve Harrison of the National Research Council.

May's meeting topic was "Metric Conversion" with speaker Frank Dugal of Industries Plans Metric Commission Canada.
